Volunteer OpportunitiesCommunities In Schools Southeast Texas, Inc., is here to make a difference in the lives of youth in Southeast Texas. Since its founding in 1991, by caring adults and employers in the area, CISSET has served over 80,000 youth in numerous capacities.

For over 25 years, Communities In Schools of Southeast Texas has helped students choose success by ensuring their access to the “Five Basics”

  • A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
  • A safe place to learn and grow
  • A healthy start and a healthy future
  • A marketable skill to use upon graduation
  • A chance to give back to peers and community

Each year, more than 2 million young people in 26 states have access to service through Communities In Schools.

Mission Statement: To surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Goal: To meet the individual needs of students by working closely in a coordinated and collaborative effort with school personnel, parents, families, volunteers, businesses, and social service agencies.

Vision: To develop public/private partnerships to assist the educational system in keeping students in school through direct involvement with the student and the student’s family.

Get Involved

In-kind Donation

You can participate in changing the lives of young people by making an in-kind donation (books, supplies, furniture, meeting room, etc.) to our program. Your in-kind donation is a gift that will help us provide necessities to the young people in our community. Contact CIS of Southeast Texas for more information.

Mentor

Give an opportunity for a Communities In Schools of Southeast Texas student to see beyond their everyday world and think big. CIS of Southeast Texas seeks individuals with a desire to make a difference in the life of a child by serving as a mentor. By giving your time, you can give the invaluable gift of your friendship and support.

Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the success of Communities In Schools of Southeast Texas programs. It is critically important for CIS students to know that their community is invested in their growth; for some it is the difference between success and failure. Volunteers can contribute to support our program by mentoring, tutoring, serving on boards/committees, assisting at special events and participating in a variety of other opportunities.
